| What is infertility? |

| Whether male or female, infertility can be defined as the "inability of a couple to conceive or continue a pregnancy to term after one year or more of regular unprotected sexual intercourse". Across the world, 1 couple in 10 of normal fertile age is affected by some form of infertility. Infertility is an exclusively female problem in 30 to 40 % of cases and an exclusively male problem in 10 to 30% of cases. However, with suitable diagnosis, very few cases of infertility should remain unexplained. | |
